"message": "gdb/data-directory: silence output from mkinstalldirs script\n\nAfter my recent changes the data-directory build now uses\nsilent-rules.mk to reduce the output.\n\nOne problem that remains was the use of mkinstalldirs by stamp-python\nand stamp-guile for creating some directories, the mkinstalldirs\nprints some messages, so we\u0027re left with output like this:\n\n GEN stamp-python\n mkdir -p -- ./python/gdb\n mkdir -p -- ./python/gdb/command\n mkdir -p -- ./python/gdb/dap\n mkdir -p -- ./python/gdb/function\n mkdir -p -- ./python/gdb/printer\n\nI was looking at adding a --silent option to the mkinstalldirs script,\nhowever, when I took a look at the automake package (which is where\nmkinstalldirs comes from) it turns out that mkinstalldirs is\ndeprecated, at the advice is to use \u0027install-sh -d\u0027 instead.\n\nJust like we carry mkinstalldirs in the top-level directory, we also\ncarry install-sh, and a version of install-sh which supports the -d\nflag.\n\nAnd best of all, \u0027install-sh -d\u0027 doesn\u0027t appear to print any of the\ninformation messages to stdout that mkinstalldirs does, so if we\nswitch to use that, we get a quieter build.\n\nThere should be no changes in what is built after this commit\n\nApproved-By: Tom Tromey \u003ctom@tromey.com\u003e\n",
